Outstanding Feat! Seferina Herawati Secures Two National Achievements in 2026
Seferina Herawati, a student of the 2022 cohort of the English Language Education Study Programme, Faculty of Teacher Training and Education, Universitas Tanjungpura, has recorded two outstanding achievements at national-level competitions in 2026. Competing alongside students from different academic disciplines, she contributed to two Universitas Tanjungpura teams that secured national recognition in entrepreneurship, digital innovation, sustainability, and technology, an accomplishment that brings considerable pride to the English Language Education Study Programme, FKIP UNTAN.
Her first achievement came through the Youth Icon 2026, a national startup acceleration programme and digital business idea competition organised by by.U, Telkomsel’s digital product, in collaboration with Kuncie. Designed for young people, particularly university and school students across Indonesia, the programme encouraged participants to develop technology-based solutions addressing problems found in society. The 2026 competition attracted 90 teams from universities across Indonesia, with the Grand Final held at the Telkomsel Smart Office, Jakarta, on 27–28 July 2026.

Representing Universitas Tanjungpura through Team Influensia, Seferina competed alongside Jimi Alviandi Mahendra from the Faculty of Engineering, Tasya Lindri Destami and Refa Suryana from the Faculty of Economics and Business. The interdisciplinary team succeeded in securing Third Place nationally while also receiving the Best Problem Solving Award, demonstrating the team’s capacity to formulate an innovative digital business solution with practical potential and relevance to Indonesia’s growing digital economy.
Youth Icon 2026 provided a national platform for young innovators to develop technology-driven solutions and digital business ideas.
At the centre of this achievement was Influensia, a technology startup developed under UPA PKK Universitas Tanjungpura in 2026. The startup is designed as an AI-powered influencer platform connecting micro, small, and medium enterprises with content creators through AI Matching technology, campaign management, and project-based learning. Its achievement at Youth Icon 2026 marked an important early milestone in the development of the university-based startup while strengthening student engagement in entrepreneurship, innovation, and the downstream development of ideas into potentially applicable solutions.

Seferina’s national-level accomplishment did not end there. In another remarkable achievement, she was also part of Team Beanefit, which secured Second Place nationally at Greenovate 2026, an innovation competition organised by the TBS Foundation. The programme provided young people with opportunities to develop sustainability- and technology-oriented solutions in the field of STEM while gaining access to professional mentoring and wider networks.
Greenovate 2026 selected 24 finalist teams from universities across Indonesia, including the Institut Teknologi Bandung, Universitas Gadjah Mada, Universitas Indonesia, Universitas Mulawarman, Universitas Cenderawasih, Universitas Palangka Raya, Universitas Sumatera Utara, and Universitas Tanjungpura. The programme also promoted greater female participation in STEM, involving 15 female finalists and six female mentors during the competition.
Team Beanefit represented Universitas Tanjungpura at Greenovate 2026 and secured Second Place nationally among 24 finalist teams.
Team Beanefit consisted of Seferina Herawati from the English Language Education Study Programme, Faculty of Teacher Training and Education; Nur Ikhsan Prakoso from the Agribusiness Study Programme, Faculty of Agriculture; and Assyfa Mozaika Atalla Raya from the Industrial Engineering Study Programme, Faculty of Engineering. Their interdisciplinary collaboration resulted in Second Place nationally, placing Beanefit among the three best teams in the competition, for which a total prize allocation of Rp65 million was provided.
Their innovation, Beanefit, transforms spent coffee grounds into value-added flour that can subsequently be used as an ingredient in producing cookies. By converting coffee waste into a potentially marketable food product, the innovation addresses environmental concerns while creating economic value. The idea combines waste utilisation with sustainability principles, illustrating how student-led innovation can contribute to circular-economy practices and more environmentally responsible forms of production. Their idea were briliantly praised by Prof. Stella Christie, A.B., Ph.D, Vice Minister of DIKTISAINTEK, commenting on the importance and potential of a huge impact of innovations for the green movement in Indonesia.

These two national achievements represent an exceptional accomplishment for Seferina Herawati and a source of pride for the English Language Education Study Programme, Faculty of Teacher Training and Education, Universitas Tanjungpura. Beyond demonstrating academic and professional potential, her participation in interdisciplinary teams shows that students of English Language Education can contribute meaningfully to fields extending beyond their primary discipline, including digital entrepreneurship, artificial intelligence, sustainability, and technological innovation. Her achievements also reflect the broader potential of UNTAN students to collaborate across disciplines, develop solutions to real-world problems, and represent the university competitively at the national level.
